Enjoy Your Blooms Longer!

We want you to enjoy your beautiful flowers for as long as possible! To assist you, every flower product we deliver comes with a packet of flower food.

Follow these general guidelines to maximize their lifespan:

Hydration is Key :

Water Quality: Use fresh, cool, clean water. Tap water is generally suitable, but if your tap water is heavily chlorinated, allow it to sit for a few hours to allow the chlorine to dissipate, or use filtered water. Bacteria thrive in stagnant water, so frequent changes are crucial.

Water Temperature: Cool water is preferred as it helps to slow down bacterial growth and keeps the flowers hydrated. Avoid using very cold or hot water, as these can shock the flowers.

Water Change Frequency: Change the water daily or every other day. This flushes out bacteria and provides fresh hydration.

Vase Hygiene: Thoroughly wash the vase with soap and warm water before refilling. Rinse the vase thoroughly.Residual bacteria can quickly contaminate fresh water and shorten the life of your flowers.

Stem Care:

Angle of Cut: Trimming stems at a 45-degree angle increases the surface area for water absorption. This allows the flowers to take in more water and stay hydrated.
Sharp Tools: Use sharp shears, a floral knife or scissors, or a sharp knife or scissors to trim stems. Blunt tools can crush the stems, damaging the water-conducting tissues and hindering water uptake.
Leaf Removal Importance: While we deliver our flowers fully conditioned and designed, if you notice any leaves below the water level in your vase, please remove them. Submerged leaves decompose, creating bacterial growth that can clog the stems and contaminate the water, shortening the life of your flowers.
Re-trimming Benefit: Re-trimming the stems every time you change the water ensures that the water uptake pathways remain open and free from blockage. This continuous process is a very important part of flower care.

Placement Matters:

Sunlight and Heat Effects: Direct sunlight and heat sources like direct sun exposure through windows, or heat generated from appliances can cause flowers to dehydrate and wilt quickly. These conditions increase the rate of transpiration (water loss) from the flowers.
Cool Environment Advantages: A cooler room slows down the metabolic processes in flowers, helping them to conserve water and nutrients. This results in a longer lifespan. Avoid placing the flowers near fans that blow directly onto them, as this can also dehydrate them. Air conditioned rooms are generally good for flowers.
Ethylene Gas Avoidance: Ripening fruits, particularly apples and bananas, release ethylene gas. This gas accelerates the aging process in flowers, causing them to wilt prematurely. Keep your flowers away from fruit bowls.

Additional Tips:

  • Use the flower food provided, according to the instructions on the packet, with hand tied, and aqua packed bouquets. It contains nutrients that help prolong the life of your flowers.
  • If any flowers wilt prematurely, remove them to prevent them from affecting the other blooms.
  • Enjoy your beautiful flowers!

Specific Care Instructions:

Hand-Tied Bouquets:

  • Upon Arrival: Carefully remove the bouquet from its packaging.
  • Vase Preparation: Select a clean vase that can adequately support the bouquet. Wash it thoroughly with soap and water.
  • Water and Flower Food: Fill the vase with fresh, cool water. Add the provided flower food to the water, following the instructions on the packet.
  • Stem Trimming: Trim approximately 1-2 inches off the stems at a 45-degree angle. This allows for optimal water absorption.
  • Placement: Arrange the bouquet in the prepared vase, ensuring the stems are submerged in water.
  • Daily Maintenance: Change the water daily or every other day. Re-trim the stems by about an inch each time you change the water. Remove any leaves that fall below the water line to prevent bacterial growth.
  • Environment: Keep the bouquet away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and ripening fruit.

Aqua-Packed Bouquets:

  • Maintaining Aqua-Pack: If you wish to keep the bouquet in its aqua-pack, ensure the water level remains adequate. Add fresh water as needed to keep the stems moist.
  • Vase Display (Optional): If you prefer a traditional vase display, carefully remove the packaging.
  • Vase Preparation: Select a clean vase and wash it thoroughly.
  • Water and Flower Food: Fill the vase with fresh, cool water. Add the provided flower food to the water, following packet instructions.
  • Stem Trimming: Trim approximately 1-2 inches off the stems at a 45-degree angle.
  • Placement: Arrange the flowers in the prepared vase, ensuring the stems are submerged in water.
  • Daily Maintenance: Change the water daily or every other day. Re-trim the stems by about an inch each time you change the water. Remove any leaves that fall below the water line.
  • Environment: Keep the bouquet away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and ripening fruit.

Floral Foam Arrangements:

  • Watering: The floral foam provides water to the flowers. Keep the foam consistently moist by adding fresh, cool water daily. Pour water slowly and directly onto the foam, allowing it to soak through.
  • Avoid Removal: Do not remove the flowers from the floral foam, as this can damage the arrangement and shorten the lifespan of the blooms.
  • Placement: Place the arrangement in a location away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and ripening fruit.
  • Maintenance: Check the foam daily to ensure it remains moist. Carefully remove any wilted flowers to prevent them from affecting the other blooms.
